Once again I couldn't resist the chance to build something odd and wonderful. This is another fine art dagger, my second in what I hope becomes a series of fabulous ceremonial or decorative knives. This one is about 9.5 inches long, and weights over a quarter pound and is made of solid sterling silver. Not plated or filled, this is the real deal. Precious metal at its most creative.
He is quite the beautiful device! I guess I am making these fabulous items in the spirit of "If I make them, they will come" and so I am searching for the right person to collect these fine art collectors knives. These magical devices full of beauty and energy. I looked at online auction sites, but none seem to fit my items, and they certainly do not fit with the import-cheap pricing I see. This knife will go for about 1600.00. Did you see the last one? I am not quite ready to let her go, shes too lovely to part with for mere money. I consider her priceless at this point, too beautiful to sell, fits my hand too well.
They are not weapons, they are not steel, they are not even blades as one would expect to see...they are beautiful works of art, days and days of work made deep in my Ramm-fueled fantasy land of silversmithing. Between my immersion in my mental fantasy land and the Rammstein and Apocalyptica music these fabulous items are born with all the wildness I can imbue them with, all the surprise and amazing qualities I can give them. Surely you know someone who will love them as I do?

Next time out for me is Edmonds Arts Festival on Fathers Day Weekend. Its my favorite outdoor summer show, so beautiful to see the sound and sky, I can almost see 'home' from that grassy field over the sea. Sunsets are great, and its close to the ferry for me and Lowie, we can be home early and get rested for the next days selling. This is a particularly nice show with lots of 2D and sculptural arts, lots of high quality fine crafts (like mine!)and it is the most generous and wonderful group of producers. It is 100% volunteer staffed, and tens of thousands of dollars, every fee we pay, is given in scolarships and grants to art students from kindergarden to high school. It supports the arts in a world that has chosen to ignore and not fund visual arts, performance art and proud fine craftsmanship in general. Edmonds Arts Festival cares, and provides this opportunity for craftspeople and lovers of art to join in a fun 3 day weekend of entertainment and learning about art and crafts. A childrens area gives budding artists a chance to experiment, a fine arts show displays wonderful one of a kind fine art, and a stage brings music and dance to life.
You should come! Its great fun! Barbara
