WHIDBEY ISLAND STUDIO TOUR time is here again!
This weekend! Saturday 10-5, Sunday 10-4

They say you can't throw a rock on the island without hitting an artist, and this year you'll see its even more true! You can see up to 80 artists in 68 locations down the length of the rock. Its a rare look at studios and workshops and the things that inspire those of us that work in them on a daily basis. These are working studios, generally. Tools, noise, finished goods will abound. I'll go easy on the music for you, tho! I tidied up the worst of the grit and dirt and greasy stuff, but I apologize in advance for the doggy smell and the clutter, its a really hard working shop and I am not prone to tidiness generally!

To take the tour (which costs 15.00) call 360-321-8414 for info or go to www.whidbeyopenstudiotour.org
What you do is this: Go to the historic Bayview Cash Store located 7 miles north of the Clinton Ferry Dock. in Bayview Corner near the farmers market. The Front Room is upstairs (don't worry theres an elevator!) on the second floor, you'll find tickets, maps and a gallery style showing of every artist's work to help you decide which workshops to visit. You'll see mine as the 2004 Poster we made featuring some spectacular earrings rather than a piece of jewelry. You'll recognise soon-to-be-a-famous-supermodel Kelsey wearing the jewelry with a backdrop of the Langley waterfront from my traveling exhibit if you are familiar with us from Art Shows.

Expect to see lots of my new colored line, the new items reporter Cynthia Woolbright called 'Candy Colored'. I really like that! They have been a lot of fun to make and sell. I will probably be offering a small discount on purchases since its so far out here to my shop on Bush Point, and because I appreciate that you are supporting the Island Arts Council. All the proceeds of the tour fund cash grants and scholarships for island artists.

Ok thats all for this entry. I'll spare you the rant (sorry about those last few! I may have to do some deleting....nah!) and just say if you do make it out here for the studio tour, there are lots of nice Dog Parks, and our place is dog friendly...GOOD dog friendly, that is...so bring your friends along. My shop is an UPSTAIRS workplace, so if stairs are a problem, yell from the drive way and I'll run down with something to show ya...a pair of pliers or a dapping tool or a mallet or something. Maybe a pair of earrings...just kidding.
Thanks!
Barb
