Island life being what it is, I could go on and on (like I did to my little sister Tracy a bit ago) about the perfection of an island summer, the flowers and grasses, the blue sea and green woods, the tall grass blowing in the wind. Its so pretty and fragrant in the summertime!
Inside the workshop its been almost as good! I have a new addition to the colored flower line that looks to be so promising that I have been making enough to last me the next 3 shows, tho I believe I could be out after Anacortes again, if they are as hot as I think they will be! Anacortes Arts Festival is looming, coming up on August5, 6, and 7 so I have the wraps beefed up in every color. As low as my actual old style 'set-with-stones' stock is, its rich in the new colored pendants and in absolutely gorgeous mabe blister pearls set in the new seaweed and seashell style. I just can't get excited about setting the same old cabochons in the same old comfortably pretty 'Barb' stuff. I am bored with all my stone boxes, nothing in there grabs me, and I don't plan to buy any new ones. Hopefully my 'Ladies' will be crazy for my new stuff. "Just when you thought it was safe"...to come by Shadowfax's booth...here it starts again. More new and wonderful things to tempt you with. See the image? These will retail at 79.00 so you can afford matching earrings and keep them both around a hundred dollars. They have very heavy weight and feel of solidity. These are MUCH reduced in the image(picture them at least twice this size) and are actually very weighty, chunky double sided pieces. They are all on pretty colored ribbons with a 2 inch extension chain that takes them from 16 to 18 inches. There is also a batch of bigger ones that I plan to sell at 90.00. Ther are longer, fancier and heavier. OK being thursday I have many chores to do, mom to take on her appointments and then grocery shopping. We have a picnic planned at the park when we are done, Shell Shack burgers and italian sodas from Whidbey's Coffee. Whats not to love about that!? Maybe even onion rings...though my last 32 lbs of weight loss is uncomfortably hovering on a plateau...well I can eat salad for dinner, right? It gets to be 'who cares' without the constant downward trend...I saw pictures of me in the woods from a week ago last nite, and it was as if some huge pink shirted whale had rolled off the beach and flopped up into the trees. Very disappointing after feeling like I was doing so well. I went to sleep as depressed as I have ever been! I think I WILL go for the onion rings! Screw it! My stomach is growling already. See you in Anacortes on the 5,6,7th, we are downtown in front of Village Pizza, booth number 808E, the east side of the street, corners facing west and north across from the ever popular Don Dye and Paul Sloan, whose works constantly amaze and amuse. The hours are only 10 to 6, so plan to come early and please leave your dog friends at home. For many reasons this show is death on dogs, and the management REALLY hopes you leave them home. I have seen dog fights, heard constantly barking dogs, picked up poop for people (and cleaned up accidental messes on people walking in the doggy dangers) and had my booth peed on...really, even Big wonderful Boots doesn't get to come to this one! And he is the perfect dog! Lowie and I will be ready to show you all the pretty new flowery things! Barb
