Its Choochokam weekend on Whidbey Island, when Langley becomes the venue for Arts and Crafts and theater, music and dance.
Unfortunately today is set up and its raining and windy, blowing like crazy. I am moving ahead like it will all be ok for set up tonight, but if this takes a turn for the worst, I will bail, sorry guys, but wind is WAAAAY worse than rain! And rain is bad enough. Wind reminds me of a disastrous Holland Happening (a joke in itself) in Oak Harbor a few years ago when we arrived sunday morning to find our display absolutely destroyed, no glass left, booth damaged and the whole show destroyed. My Easy Up was against a store front behind us, and my neighbors booth was upside down on top of our cabinets, having smashed every piece of glass but one. A spendy event for one with so few customers! Thats why I am a bit hesitant about this weekend. Not much fun to sit in bad weather outside all weekend! And its a shame cause Choochokam is our very favorite island event, great music, all our friends, great views...what a shame for the weather to do this! Well, tomorrow is a long way off...right?
Heres an image of sleepy early morning Langley last year during the show. My booth is on the left side, right at the point where it goes from double row to single as the street goes around the bend, about the top center of the booths, very tall (like me) and in the middle! See ya there..most likely? B
