At last the wind has stopped and I can stand to be outside! Seemed like it was squall after squall for days on end for the last week. Its cool but much nicer now! The days chores are done, UPS and PO shipments done, the car gassed up, the mocha bought and warming my hand. The day's dog walk was at Marguerite Brons Off Leash Park, Boot's favorite place to go. He hung with Wookie and Dylan, barking and sniffing butts...we all trooped off into the woods together, much fun for the big dogs, but Wookie was mostly stepped on and shoved around on the trails. She tries to play like the big boys, but its hard when your big dog spirit is in a body only a few inches off the ground!
As we were leaving, the true Rock Star of the park was arriving. Thats Homer, an stringy tough old white wolf, the coolest dog on the south end. He has this funny snarly grouchy old man voice, and is really such a great personality. He always gives me a smile and a soft look, one tiny lick, about the rarest thing coming from a wolf dog. They are not lickers at all. He is supreme ignorer of most humans, any instructions or demands. When told its time to leave, he generally lays down on his back and amuses himself scratching his ribs with his hind feet, one of the silliest things I have ever seen. His human rolls her eyes and shakes her head and cajoles, but Homer is his own wolf, and does as he pleases.
See what I mean about the Rock Star part? Its that, plus the fact he is universally admired and loved and respected. And I mean like you'd love, respect and admire a favored rockstar. Homer is definitely the Coolest of the Cool, The Hippest of the Hip on Whidbey Island. Maybe I can get a snap of him for you. He has this Yoda gaze in a gnarly old face.
I think I have held you here reading long enough to drop in this image next. It has 4 strands of freshwater pearls with a huge silver clasp in my new clamshell and seaweed style. Its one of the things I am bringing to Edmonds Arts Festival in a few weeks. Its 295.00, if you want it now, call the 800 number on the website and let me know. Let 'er ring! I wear headphones, respirator, saftey goggles and more so thats a lot to get out of if I even hear the phone. Depends on the degree of noise canceling and the volume of the music I have on...cause I am still as Rammstein posessed as ever. It makes me so happy! Can't beat that!
