With a stormy weekend forecast, I can only dream of the fun of last weekend's show over in Pasco. Our neighbors were once again Johnny and Pat Padilla, wonderful and gentle people from Montana who have a very original product made from Johnny's old lariats, collected from years and years of ranching, horse and cattle work. After hugs and happy greetings all around we settled in to the serious job of setting up and selling. Lauren came along to help sell, so for Ellen and Lar and Kimster, heres a few shots of her being silly with Johnny from the next booth during a momentary break, getting roped by the pro.
It was one of those things worth trying again!
I just LOVE Custer Shows! They have a certain sweetness you just don't find in the city! Our corner is a busy one and each of the neighboring corners has a friend in it, so its very friendly. We saw a beautiful view of the lunar eclipse, and took turns going out to watch it. Here is a pretty shot of it, right before it was over. It was a cool clear night out there, so it looked really good.
Since we got home it has been a week of getting rested and doing orders, dog walks and tubbing. Today Boots and I had an early chore so we went early to the beach and talked to a birdwatcher who pointed out loons and buffleheads and kildeer, and the resident bald eagle surveying it all. It was very still down there that early.
Haole is starting a custom order for a fabulous door, made from wood cut and milled on the land where the the trees grew and where the house stands. The wood is so beautiful, its chatoyance is evident even in its raw sawn state! Its wood no one could buy, nicer than any I have seen come thru his workshop before. I have never noticed that beautiful effect on unpolished, or unfinished wood before. Its gonna be wonderful.
And heres one last shot of Lauren learning to spin the rope. Some people have the knack and some just miss the cow!
Happy weekend, all. Stay warm and dry! And all of you at the Best of the Northwest in Portland, Good Luck!
