The Whidbey Island Studio Tour was great!
It was perfect sunny hot weather, and the people really seemed to enjoy it! It was the best turnout yet, and I had more visitors than usual. Ticket sales were at an all time high!

We had a great show, and the people who came out here had fun looking, asking questions, eating chocolate, walking out to the bluff to see the sights...
It was an altogether perfect weekend.

The workshop is interesting for most people, and I had stonesetting jobs out (Rebecca, your pieces wil go out tomorrow!), examples of all the tiny components I make in all their stages of completion to show how its all done.

The heart of the shop, the 117 year old anvil, got a lot of attention. I left its heavy bronze hammer out so guys could give it a try to test their muscles and hear it ring...and of course all the jewelry was out. I sold lots of jewelry, got to talk to so many interesting people and it was just SO MUCH fun! Really neat to share our lives and work with people, let them in on the pleasure we get from the lifestyle of the crazy and artsy! We are dog friendly, so its a popular spot for people that have a dog waiting in the car, and Boots stayed up at Mom's most of the time so he didn't scare people cause hes so big and hairy.

For the opening reception and gallery/ticket sales we were allowed to show one item. I always think a single item in a case is so insignificant and small, so I took our lovely framed ad photo "The Egyptian" and added the items in the picture to it across one corner on a triangle of white felt. The director called me this morning to tell me it was the single MOST commented on, most powerful attention getter in the whole show. I think its truely the most beautiful Art Photo Haole has ever made, Want to see?

Isn't it lovely?
It was published in the Artist Directory published by The Northwest Crafts Alliance last May. If you want one, email me from the website and I'll send you one. Then you'll have your own copy of the beautiful picture for your wall!

I think its our most beautiful ad ever, its a true work of art. Ralph took the photo and did the magic to create the ad. My blog entry from the first or second week of March this year has the story of the photo sessions that produced the picture above and the other gorgeous ones in the Artists Directory and in our booth. It so fun to take my concepts to the published state!

The weekend's heat and sun have given away to soft fog and cool weather today, and walking Boots in the South Whidbey State Park was so beautiful and quiet. A handful of campers sitting by fragrant fires or quietly packing up to go home, all the cedar trees soft and dark, mushrooms beginning to show...it was so pretty.

So lucky to live here!
Bye for today.
